It’s late, you’re tired, you’re fed up, you’re annoyed – any of those things that happen in life. But, you need to feel good before walking into a client meeting or to walk on stage and present. You have 45 minutes and need to be on top of your game – what motivates you, what do you do?

What motivates you in a hurry? These music-headphones?

What do you do?

Yes, that’s a real question. What helps you with a quick motivation injection, as I am not the only one that ever feels like that. A few weeks ago, I was tired (early up, late night the night before) with 40 miles of journey left and needed to arrive pumped up. For me it was music, what would you do?

What would you put on your motivational music list?

Do you know something I should add to my iTunes list (and I do have one by the way). At the moment (advance apologies for my poor taste) it has

OK, they’re trashy and rubbish; but I’m intrigued by what you do and what motivates you in a hurry.

What motivates you – the longer term answer

Of course the real answer is to manage your motivation, hunger and sleep; and some of the things in “How can I improve my motivation?” But sometimes we need a quick fix.

Even more importantly, how do you help your team get more motivated and productive? If it’s not one of your high ranking activities, perhaps it should be. Team motivation takes longer still, it’s the output of a series of your actions (both conscious and sub conscious), as well as your teams choices (do they want to be motivated?). Team motivation talks about the way people vary in their motivations, and how you might need to think about that.

Action in the right direction builds motivation, so take some action, even if only a tiny bit.
