Do you use a  “To-Do” list but find it doesn’t it help you get everything done? This article is really about the problems of the humble to-do list and why it isn’t enough to solve your time management problems.

Being better at Time Management is something that  lots of people ask me about and I’ve helped many business owners get significantly more done, but there is one problem – “Time Management” is impossible and having a “to do” list is never enough.

A Time Management tip – The Default Diary

Setting up  a system where you use Time Blocks is a good way to help you get more done a default diary is an extension of that principle. Each involves you in knowing what your 3-4 key strategic priority areas are (e.g. Marketing, sales, team meetings etc) and blocking you week out in proportion to their importance. Making the To-Do list actually work

The big problem that most business owners find is that they don’t do everything on their to do list, in fact they get some things done really well and not others. To be even more precise, do YOU find that some things get done more than others? One business owner I know recently told me he never gets much of his marketing done, although he gets the finances done, I’ve spoken to others with variations on the same theme. What about you, which category do you never get properly done?

The simple answer is that you don’t have enough to do lists!! If you have one for each of your main categories and use it when working on that category, you will get things done in proportion and have a stronger business – try it; it really works in conjunction with the default diary and time blocks.
